Do yellow pages, phone books and printed directories in general have you seeing red?

I cant help feeling that the days of the large printed directory are numbered and here is an example of various initiatives in America that are seeking to give choice on whether we want to receive them: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23922427

The article concentrates on the environmental and recycling issues. The other area that I am mindful of is the value of the printed book in comparison to an online alternative like Brownbook that can offer us all so much more. When i say more I refer to the functionality where we can all add, edit and review any business immediately.

In the next week we will add additional functionality to reviewing a business so that we can all review businesses and add photos and videos to the review.

With all the additional value that online gives us, why are the usage figures for the large printed directories not falling through the floor?
